Pooch Power

I received a back-on-your-feet card from Tilly over the weekend. She’s an AMPS+ Client; sweet and sure of her opinions. She reminded me it’s getting time to hit the road again if only for a walk. So I did. Two consecutive days in fact.

A Face That Demands Paying Attention

Sundays results: 7:06am, 5.59miles, 18.13/mile, 126 ave HR

Monday results: 5:33pm, 3.61miles, 17.53/mile, 109 ave HR

I was tempted to stay up late Saturday but Tilly kept tugging at me. C’mon…look at her and tell me she doesn’t leave an impression. I pulled myself together and headed out the door with breakfast and an endless cup of coffee in mind. I’ve never really been much of a walker. In fact, this may have been the longest walk I’ve every done. Ever. Although it was split in half by the breakfast and coffee thing. I tossed on a jacket and  my ipod and was out the door. It was amazingly peaceful; barely a soul on the trail. The chill was broken only by the occasional runner or dog-walker.
What I noticed mostly (aside from my obvious broken gait) was the heightened attention I paid to nearly every step I took. Potholes, corners, curves and curbs. I spotted ’em all to make sure I didn’t drag a foot and trip.

Sunday was a good trial, low traffic and the rest of the day to complete stretching, icing and a few other exercises. I did get a little fatigued and started dragging a bit toward the end. Monday was a non-event. Effortless and over much too quickly. Feels as if we’re back on track.

By far the highlight of the first walk was spotted just off the trail:
