Zip Codes

Currently the U.S. has more than 43,000 Zip Codes. It’d be close to say I’ve lived in about 25 of them. My personal record is living in four zip codes in one city/general area. I’ve done that a few times, three I believe. It’s become tough to recall how many different addresses it took to get through all those zips. A bunch would be a solid estimate. In a fifteen year period I’d trekked to five cities in four states. Nomadic life seems to suit me fairly well.

New experiences, places and people all fascinate me. I’m genuinely intrigued by cultural, language, entertainment and topographical differences between people–sometimes between folks only a couple zip codes apart. From personal living experience I learned dramatic lexicon differs between natives of 32003 and 32004–one simple digit equated to a world apart in many ways. I believe I’m better for living these experiences. Admittedly I occasionally envy those with the ability to travel extensively; yet I normally quickly remind myself I’ve learned far more about our country through living in all these zip codes than I could have by vacationing in them. Besides; with so many different launch pads the vacations I do take look a lot different than they would had my zip code totals were down in the single digits. After all it’s a heck of a lot easier (and way, way more fun) to hop in the jeep with a buddy (or a gal!) and some camping gear and hit the road from 32266 to 32329 or from 43230 to  44870!

As the count-down is now in the days before the next move I’m getting more excited about everything 22202 has to offer. For one thing it has several dozen more Zip Codes around it to explore!!!
