Streaking!!!

Streaking has never been an aspiration of mine; neither the naked run type nor the daily workout kind. Although I’d capitalize on the opportunity for one of the former if it presented itself.  Of the dozens of stories told in My Life On The Run the one related to the former ranked near the top.

Relative to the latter; I’ve been known to take days, weeks, months and even years off between concerted workout efforts if you’d run back to high school or even junior high days. I’m the proud owner of many mini-streaks shaped by phases in live, geographical moves and the combination of emotional and physical states. For whatever reason I started my current disjointed streak January 14 (yes, just of this year) and I’m looking forward to getting a solid 30 days out of it before I’m forced back to the IR.

I recall twelve, fourteen, fifteen years ago being in the middle of countless long stretches of continual training wrapped around an endless string of races. Weather was nearly always favorable and when it wasn’t nearly perfect it was highly tolerable. During many of those periods I had nothing but time and despite having no training regimen or program whatsoever my times kept improving. A combination of high miles and youth made for a distraction from exhaustion as well as favorable results.

I know what my pre and post op concerns are; they are starting to make it somewhat challenging and distracting. Fortunately several days of Vitamin D exposure are just ahead; an ideal distraction.
