Nice job on the spoiler. That’s ok, I can toggle between the Hawkeye home opener live and watching a native Iowan win via tape-delay. Makes for good TV as recovery from perhaps the easiest 10 I’ve run in ~~ since probably last December. Although the finish was under a sunny, no-breeze 88degree sky that was muted by conversation and good company. This was exactly what I needed given:
–I didn’t really know where we were meeting
— I didn’t know where to park
— I was a couple minutes late
–It was 80 at the start
–I forgot my watch

All the above wiped out by minutes and miles of chatter starting with Buddy’s SantaRosa recap.
Good for him~~ BQ on his inaugural attempt; not many folks can say that. We had an (apparently) typical/standard early start group who peeled off dropping us in 1/2 which makes it even more helpful to find distractions. Through the park, touch the elephant sculpture and head west on new territory. All made for great diversions. Until about mile five/six. Figured I’d take my chances and mix things up with a couple taboo topics of politics and religion a la DK and Heidesch. While I’m missing the depth of one and the passion of the other….at minimum I can stir it up a bit. Plus I know when to quit.
Final couple of miles trickle away and we’re back winding our way through campus and making our way to the bookstore. Ten more in the books; actually somewhere between 9.91 and 9.96 according to a couple checks. Albeit without a gauge it felt like an even paced 10 with an average rolling in around 8:35-8:40. I’ll take it.
