(April 14)
Traffic has been steady yet manageable from the airport down south/southeast on my shuttle ride. It seems as if I’ve just taken this trip-which is a good thing. I find myself back in a more desirable travel pattern now that I’m eight weeks post-op. I would look for this to be the norm moving forward. Somehow all my Midwest adventures, and there were a few, happened so quickly I found myself falling further behind in talking about some of them.

I’ll start with my ginormous lead in my Coke Quest. Conditions were favorable for me to rack up dozens and dozens of bike miles over the last couple of weeks from the hapless daily downhill commute to a single day score of 50+. End point of the 50 shown here. I know; not very dramatic. Given this is written over the course of a few weeks details are fuzzy….I believe this was a weekend and as can be seen by the foliage it was likely closer to the front end of an early/mid April midwest trip; not the back end of this trip. Maybe 9th or 10th; that sounds about right.
At this point I’d be willing to spare The Lofti from a concession speech and further humiliation in exchange for handing over two Cokes. As he blew yet another weekend fishing and yucking it up on the Gulf Coast I’ve got a 70+ miler on my radar.(more on that now-long-past event to come)
Highlights of the last couple of Midwest weeks beyond the bike miles include a couple days and nights spent with a few friends, participating in a volunteer day for the Easter Seals, attending a birthday party, breaking a bike chain link, blowing two tubes plus a tire–yes, a tire, doing something nice for my gal and planning yet another trip.
Of note is no mention of the doc, the PT or related. It’s become a chore. It’s disruptive to the day yet as I sit here in my shorts on the shuttle writing this I can see the continued atrophy. I promise I’ll be better this weekend. (weekend of 4/16-17). Time to tighten down on timing if I’m to remain relevant. To the casual observer this may appear easy but the reality is between a fulltime job, a part time job, two homes and the travel between them,
and the forced PT this actually falls down on the list of things to do. I’ll make better use of the mobile feature. It works quite well if I simply make myself get started.
