Americans for Responsible Solutions

Small hairs on the back of my neck still salute on the increasingly more rare moments I seriously think about it. I can still recall the exact moment; I was vacuuming on a Saturday morning when the breaking news broke in on my usual talk radio. I must have been dusting between vacuums to have heard the bulletin. I turned on the TV so breaking news was in stereo; I struggled to clearly hear the radio or the TV versions. I knew it was serious and wanted as much information as quickly as I could get it. In only a few minutes Ames was on the phone and we didn’t say much; I knew where she was headed. I took a bag to her later that night. That was merely the beginning.
Ripples on a pond after a giant rock is tossed in reverberate on and on and on…..a big rock was thrown that day and two years later ripples continue. It impacted the dynamic of our relationship; 90 hour work-weeks for a month will do that. It helped me better understand what I was getting into. Evidence of the event can be seen or felt all over town; often in ways quite positive.

People find various ways to pitch in, lend a hand, make even a small difference. My way continues to be a sliver above insignificant, yet it’s something and consistent. Former Congresswoman Giffords and her husband are making a play to make a big difference. It’ll take a lot of people each playing a small part to make that big difference. I’m confident it’ll happen.
