Emergency!

Never really thought about this until recently. With roughly 400 units in the building (*2 if the attached property is counted) it’d be difficult to get more dense than this for housing. In fewer than four months I’ve been a part of three building fire alarms (evacuate type) as well as two two-vehicle emergency calls. And that’s just what I know from when I’m home, who knows about time away.
Quite the site to see a couple hundred people in their nightgowns at nearly midnight stumbling around a building! More disturbing are the single person/apt emergency calls~~those likely don’t end well.
What I do know (ok, believe) is regulators have perhaps gone too far in safety-outfitting buildings—it’s impossible for me to cook a brat without setting off the smoke alarm—and with 1/2 a dozen of them plus another 8-10 sprinklers I’m always at the ready for everything we own to be flooded! Over a brat. On second thought—given the diversity of the building perhaps it’s not all bad to have an early and very loud warning before things get out of control~~ there’s some folks in here that would need both to let them know to turn off the stove and/or call 911!
