Meltdowns and Related
We had a near meltdown this week. The weather-guy replaced the typical 0% with a couple days of 20-30% in the precip category. Not good. Especially when 1) Plans are outside and more importantly 2) We had options for dates.
Could have picked any one of about 325 days it almost never rains or one of the 40 days it might rain that are warm. Cold, windy and rainy when we had lots of other options. Talk started of a reschedule, of an impromptu in the back yard, of biting the bullet and renting indoor space….other. Oh boy.
Secret plan……??? Sleep it off and it’ll change by the next forecast. Sure enough in 18 hours the % were cut in 1/2 and in another day they were wiped out. Problem solved without lifting a finger. Surprised myself.
Next problem. A clean shirt. Having off-loaded 95% of my dress wear I found myself scrambling for about everything. Or at least components that don’t look as if they came out of the 00’s. First up: new suit. Not happy about it. #2 in the desert outdoors begs of my best dog-walking shorts and one of a closet full of short-sleeve button downs. Unfortunately didn’t coordinate well with the dress (of which I have yet to see). As painful as it was we ordered a modern fitted two-piece from a great guy at the men’s store and my job started with ensuring I had the right tie and shirt. Really.
Somehow good fortune hit and I saved a single white shirt saving even more unnecessary time at the men’s store. Unfortunately I waited too long and the dry-cleaners cannot have it back in time. Easy fix with my newish home-dry cleaning kit and a little leftover starch. That little setback didn’t leak out. Yea me! Still time to find some polish for the shoes and make a final decision on the tie. We have a couple gals to help make rule-in/rule-out choices on that this weekend. Not a worry felt on this end so far.
Next up, the food and the bling.
