Rehab Begins In Earnest

A little over two days post-op and I can attest to the standards of exponential improvement the first few days (even without much effort) which typically gives way to incremental improvement.
Made it up in the middle of the night solo (almost) and slept through the night (almost) after a late night screening of Shutter Island.  Not one of DiCaprio’s finest; a bit jerky with the flashbacks and dark; not necessary dark story but dark screen. Had to shut it down before the end; we’ll knock the rest out this weekend.
Up at normal daily time which meant plenty of time to kill before an 8:00a.m. initial follow-up. That was handled as a team effort; a nurse, a P.A. and the surgeon. Each weighing in (separately with their own pieces, parts and opinions. Fortunately they matched.  A first look at the exposed leg and knee was uneventful. Still yellowish, bluish, redish and swollen. Puffed up from mid-quad down to just above the ankle. If you saw the December ’10 ankle that’s a decent frame of reference.  Some break-away stitches cut out and we did a look and count at the holes. Three-4 in front, one on the left side 1/2 up the quad and the cuts into the left hamstring. I believe with this I’ve lost any future shots at a best legs contest–unless of course I’d enter one at the state fair.
We did a few sit-up and lay down stretches and went over expectations for home rehab.  Unfortunately most of my day was filled and I neglected to contact my family doc about looking for a PT for the more intensive work.  I confirmed with the doc I’m grounded from driving and flying for awhile and that I’m apparently doing ok with the reduced meds. I think a cold adult dinner beverage or two will be just the thing to help me sleep through the entire night.  All in all an unremarkable day; almost like a four part Twitter (blech).
