Pre-Op Prep

Denver’s nice in late winter; sunny skies lots of snow-caver and the promise of spring-break nearly at hand. We had some talk about a spring break ski-trip with friends in December; that was prior to my initial Dr’s visit the second week of January.  Briefly the idea of postponing entered my mind…then I started looking ahead to the time I’d be off….plus the risk of further damage and decided against it.  I’d like to believe a good choice. At any rate; staring out the window now into the bright sunshine broken only by a few wispy cirrus clouds feels good.
It took the nurses at the clinic a little over a week to track me down; after a few mutual misses we finally connected to go through any last minute details. I don’t have the initial packet with me but I think the timing was bumped back a bit; works for me. Translated that means sleeping in a bit more. I have a modest goal of not violating every pre-op recommendation; pretty sure I’ve already missed a couple but I’ll be sure to hit the important ones. My personal caregiver is in town ahead of me as I type this; not the most ideal time away I realize but overall it’s a mutual win.

I’m convinced a story is to be written by either sitting in place at the airport for a day or two or by selecting a few subjects and following them from arrival gate to/through departure. The lady with the librarian glasses, the two teens each with nicer machines than me, the group of (Russians?), Indians, mid-westerners, east-coasters and the 40-something desperately trying to hold on to her youth…all creating a melting pot within earshot. It’d be a cheap story; pick up a 1 way ticket to nowhere to get into inside and just sit out the day. For me, for now a welcome distraction.
