I broke a rule today; sort of. 36 minutes, 55 seconds = 2 15 minute miles. Hilly miles, part with dogs. Part on trails. Compare to days and days of 17-18 minute miles. I sort of jogged, a little. Not much. Not down hills. Not on rough trail. Boy it felt good. This was but one of several walks over the last week; by far the quickest and feeling better every day. In addition I believe I’m up to a total of around 60 miles on the bike in the last week. I’ll repeat: I’m a bad PT patient; I just want to get out and do stuff. And do stuff we have!
I’ve missed days of updates, too busy to take a break and talk about it! Where to begin……it starts minutes after my last words as the shuttle van ride came to an end. I lost my wallet; not exactly true. I had it stolen by one of my fellow passengers. I’m sort of over it now but the first few minutes when I realized it and when I confronted the most probable suspect, looking him in the eye and letting him know I knew he took it resulted in a few hours of adrenalin boost. Fast forward and all’s well; everything cancelled. The most meaningful thing I lost was a card I received when I lost my two pups in a car accident a few years ago. Something that’ll be difficult to replace; amazing the nerve that exists within mankind.

Neighborhood Trail, looking down on the ‘hood |
We started with a cruise around town looking for an available table/corner of a bar somewhere to watch the ‘cats take on Duke. About 1/2 dozen stops and several miles away from campus later we finally found a spot with great food and a bank of TVs. Didn’t make our top 5 list but it turned out fine; double fine as we were able to watch both games and see the ‘cats win.

Making up for lost time……we took in a spring training game:
A beautiful March afternoon, so much so I ended up with some unintended sun on the arms and face.
Next up was a date at one of the local pre-prepped dinner places. While a decidedly well run small business, in business for 7-8 years according to the owner, it didn’t exude warm fuzzies as I’d grown accustomed to. Good, maybe even very good, albeit a little pricey, meals and a great way to spend some time with your partner.
That took us directly into playing weekend hosts for the in-laws in town from the real snow bird mecca of the area. A top notch time with them that was only soured by the ‘cats defeat to UConn. Drat. In-laws head back up north/Midwest within a month so it’ll be awhile before they’re around again.
A few bike rides and some sun time on the patio later and it’s nearly the end of the week and time to get ready for another weekend visitor from the Midwest down to soak up the sun!
