As expected the actual event was a breeze. A mere tiny fraction of the time prepping and we were finished, right on queue. A great location, stunning bride and a sharp and prompt group of guests made for a flawless afternoon/evening.
After a quick pre-dusk spin through the gardens with the folks Ames and crew showed up and 30 minutes later we were done! Oversimplified; yes. But it was about that simple. Perhaps the most challenging was writing our vows. While not exactly steeped in tradition, it felt appropriate for us to write our own and naturally our officiant was happy to oblige as part of her duties.
Darkness comes quickly in the desert once the sun drops below the Tucsons. With it comes the cold in the fall/winter. We stuck around long enough at the gardens to share a few stories, have a few laughs, sign a few documents and have a couple drinks. By then everyone was more than happy to head downtown to our dining room for the non-traditional Mexican reception dinner.
All business completed it was time for the real treat. On to one of the local resorts tucked in the hills to a room bigger than any apartment I’ve ever had and maybe as big as a couple of my condo’s. This thing had two bathrooms, a full dining table, living space, bar and four balconies. One large enough to fit at least 30 people. Fortunately we had some company come over to help fill up the space for awhile. And the views outside matched the scale of the suite. Just amazing.
